CATHOLIC TRADITION. FIFTH CENTURY. YEAR 444. LIST OF AUTHORS AND WORKS CONTAINED IN THIS SEVENTY-SECOND VOLUME.
Those marked with a star appear now for the first time among the works of Cyril.
ST. CYRIL, ARCHBISHOP OF ALEXANDRIA. Continuation of the Commentaries on the Twelve Minor Prophets. * Fragments of the Commentaries on Matthew. * Commentary on Luke.
TO THE READER.
After this volume was completed, we discovered that there had recently been published in London, through the efforts of the most learned Payne Smith, librarian of the Bodleian Library, a Syriac text of St. Cyril's commentary on Luke. In it, the original form of the work is found, in contrast to the Mai edition, in which, as learned men have judged, many things are read that are derived from Theophylact and others. If the distinguished English editor allows it, we shall provide this Syriac text in that series of the Patrologia which is called: *Patrologia Orientalis*.
