Let the reader know that the Fathers of the fourth century and beyond who have written in Syriac, Armenian, or any other Oriental language have been relegated to a special series prepared by us, which we have titled *Patrologia Orientalis*; the reader should not, therefore, be surprised by the omission in subsequent volumes of the names of St. James of Nisibis, St. Gregory the Illuminator, St. Ephrem, etc., who will hold their place in the new series.
