A would not have said, writing in the Gospel, that the Lord says from the cross, "Behold thy son," in such a way that from that day on John took Mary into his own home. How, then, does he say here that she was not present? But there is nothing foreign in this. For just as the Lord is the Truth, so the devil happens to be a liar. For he is a liar, and the father of it; and when he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own. And these things, indeed, regarding the lie.
XIX. Reliqua Amphilochiana excerpta quæ superant. Ex catena in Joannem. B Amphilochii. Not because the Son of Man descended from heaven, but because He who descended, the Son of God, He Himself ascended having become the Son of Man, He said by way of assurance: "No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven." For the flesh, after the resurrection, having become impassible and immortal through its communion with God, escaped from passion. For it is honored with the same session, indivisibly with Him.
